Grandma and Annette

My incredible aunt Annette and the equally incredible Grandma Mary Huck. Even after eight kids, she manages to improve the lives of others as a tireless advocate for special needs citizens, finding funding for adult day care in Saint Genevieve, Missouri, supporting the local group home, not to mention constant visits to friends who don’t get around so well anymore. All that, and at 81 she still rocks in her bowling league, and keeps them in tune in her church choir.

Getting to sit down with her at Christmas was easily the highlight of my year. So much love in such a little lady, and so much to teach me.

On the way out to our caving adventures, we stopped by a festival in this cutesy West Texas enclave. Gorging ourselves on schnitzel and gulash (sp?), we prepared to blaze some cave.

The Maguire-Schneider clan was kind enough to host a weekend redux of Turkey Day. Kevtron and I fried the turkey. Everyone drank good whiskey and laughed their asses off. I couldn’t shake ‘Til Tuesday’s “Voices Carry” for the life of me. All-in-all a wonderful day.

Caveblazers!

This weekend, on assignment from the President (who’s daughter had been kidnapped away to a nearby cave by a deranged anti-cave terrorist cell) Garrett Johnston (Caveblazer callsign: “Clutch”) suggested that we hit up Enchanted Rock to check things out and blaze some cave. It was somewhere in the middle of the second leg of our cave journey, that I realized I was caving with a blazer on (and a scarf) and, well, the rest is history. Allow me to introduce the team:
